Additional Info:

OC Indie Star, is a Southern California Vocal/Songwriter/Performance Competition established in 2015. After years of working in the music industry as an Artist Manager, A&R, Artist Development Expert, and Entertainment Publicist for some of the most successful independent artists of this generation, Dani Thompson, Founder of DNT Entertainment, launched OC Indie Star in effort to discover and highlight local independent artists. Unlike other vocal competitions, OC Indie Star requires that each artist only perform original material during the competition. If you make it through the first audition and do not have original music to compete with, you will be paired up with other writers to help you put together original material that you will perform in the live rounds. Artists and Duos between the ages of 14 and 24 are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Los Angeles, CA (April 24, 2015) Macy Kate steadily continues her climb into the young Hollywood scene, making a name for herself beside the major label supported artists of her generation. As a young and powerful vocal phenom, she is known for being a multi-talented artist. Not only is she a gifted and classically trained pianist, accomplished host/actress on Awesomeness TV’s popular teen talk show “IMO,” but also has an unique, identifiable, vocal tone, that has been compared to world renown powerhouses such as Christina Aguilera. With the tremendous amount of independent success since the release of her July 2013 YouTube cover video, “Radioactive,” which has accumulated over 16 million views to date, Kate has built up an international fan-base of thousands of youth music lovers that continue to support her journey.

In a few short months, Macy Kate will join the legendary and wildly popular Vans Warped Tour, where she will take to the stage with her recently released single “5 Stages of Lovin You.” Since the official announcement, fans from all over the world have rallied together to launch a hash-tag campaign; #5stagesoflovinyou. Maddy Vance 2Orange County Recording Artist/Songwriter, Maddy Vance, is just days away from the official release of her new independent single, “Paper Airplane.” With the tremendous amount of growth she has seen over the past 12 months, it is safe to say this song has wings of its own that are sure to help Maddy’s career soar to the next level.

Maddy Vance is a 15-year-old singer/songwriter who has inspired and motivated many generations through her music and relatable lyrics. She has been perfecting her craft on the piano and guitar for the past seven years, and has built a catalog of over 50 original songs that have helped piece together her story.  When Maddy was a child, she was diagnosed with a severe heart condition better known as SVT, which introduced many challenges into her daily life. During her struggles with SVT, Vance turned to music for guidance and inspiration, which helped her overcome many obstacles.

In January of 2014, Maddy released her first independent EP “Stars,” which continues to gain momentum in the digital sphere. She has built an organic fan-base from the ground up, and is working hard in the studio to deliver consistent material to her fans and followers. Over the past 12 months, Vance has made a variety of special performance appearances at Comic-Con/ Kid-Con, Disney, Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, and DNT’s Emerging Artist Showcase to name a few. In the first quarter of 2015, Vance was signed to DNT Entertainment as a songwriter, and in addition to building her own career, has successfully contributed to the growth of many other independent artists in and around Orange County.

Maddy’s new single “Paper Airplane” was co-written and produced by David Batt and Kyle Wesley of Royal Fire Music Group. It will be available for ITunes download on March 30, 2015, and will be accompanied by an official music video.

“‘Paper Airplane’ is a song that I wrote when I was in a place where I was longing to be somewhere else. Being in high school it is hard to know where you fit in, and at the same time staying true to who you are,” comments Maddy about her upcoming single. “You may not have all the answers now, but you gain perspective with all the experiences you go through.”

Maddy wrote “Paper Airplane” after a bullying incidence in her high school. The song reflects her own personal experience of rising above a negative situation. It is her desire to give hope to other youth dealing with similar situations.

Vance has recently teamed up with a local Orange County jewelry company to design an original line, which will accompany “Paper Airplane.” The jewelry consists of Paper Airplane charmed bracelets, necklaces, and earrings that are available in both silver and gold plated designs.

“The jewelry was designed as a symbol to remind my fans to be themselves and soar.”

Maddy has soared and risen above her challenges, and her jewelry is an emblematic reminder to her fans that they can, as well, rise above any obstacle set before them. Vance’s custom-designed jewelry will soon be available for purchase through her website www.maddyvance.com.

On March 25, 2015, Maddy’s fans are encouraged to create their own paper airplane and post it to Instagram with the hash-tag #MaddyVancePaperAirplane and #WhereWillYouSoar. The winner will receive their very own paper airplane bracelet, a signed photo, and a copy of Maddy’s latest EP “Stars.” Contest ends April 13th, 2015.

In a few short days, “Paper Airplane” will take off on local radio airwaves. Make sure to tune into KX 93.5 on March 30, 2015 at 8am where Maddy will be debuting her new single live on the air for the first time.

The Occasions Give the Gift of Music This Holiday Season

With the holidays quickly approaching, what better “occasion” to celebrate than the full release of The Occasions first independent EP, “Nothin’ Better.” Over the past 12 months, this Indie Pop/Rock band has taken the OC and LA music scenes by storm. Their first music video, iTunes single release, and recent receipt of DNT’s People’s Choice Award, are only a few of their many notable accolades as they round out 2014.

Orange County,CA – (December 10, 2014) This has been an action packed year for the Orange County based teen band. Since their first single release in August of 2014, The Occasions have been in high demand from music venues, festivals, and philanthropic groups in their local community. In addition to their weekly performance residencies at various OC venues, they recently rocked the House of Blues Anaheim for a charitable food drive during the Thanksgiving holiday, as well as Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood for a Breast Cancer Awareness event earlier this Fall. If you have yet to catch a live show, The Occasions will be performing a fully amped set on Sunday, December 14th at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach at 5pm.

December 9th is the official digital release date of The Occasions first 6-song EP. The Extended Play contains 3 singles that have previously dropped on iTunes, as well as 3 additional songs which have been unreleased until now.

“We are psyched to release our first EP, and appreciate the support from our friends, family and fans! They keep it real, and it is awesome to see the effects that our music has on others. We have worked long and hard to perfect these songs and to bring this project to life, and are so stoked to share all 6 songs. We hope you all love them as much as we do! Special thanks to Thomas Barsoe and Philip Halloun from The OC Hit Factory for producing this awesome EP.”- The Occasions

The Occasions are currently back in the studio working on new original material, and will continue to ride the wave that has carried them from their high-school classroom to the main stage. The ironic title for their newly released EP “Nothin’ Better,” will quickly have you convinced. The Occasions Reggae/Groove/Pop-Rock original sound is sure to have you hooked.

“It won’t be long before the gap between indie music and mainstream fades away and becomes transparent,” says Dani Thompson of DNT Entertainment. With the production and songwriting quality that is being released from independent artists such as The Occasions, and the digital platforms that make it possible to share music without the help of the “big machine,” its only a matter of time before indie music is just as accessible and popular as mainstream. We at DNT Entertainment are excited to have the opportunity to help spread awareness of the awesome new music that The Occasions have gifted to their fans this holiday season.” – Dani Thompson

Additional Info:

The Occasions, founded by core members Robbie Crebar and Nick Stone, perform as an acoustic duo as well as a full band (with band members Iain Shipp on bass and Keith Matten on drums). They are best known for their captivating performances, classic yet current sound, and growing popularity in the Orange County music scene. As students of the Orange County School of Performing Arts, they have worked hard to perfect their skills as musicians, and have caught the attention of DNT Entertainment and the OC Hit Factory. The guys are no stranger to the stage, and have played at a number of respectable OC venues such as the House of Blues, Disneyland, Segerstrom Center, the Grammy Museum, The Whisky, The Coach House and NAMM to name a few.
